Optimumcut-1D v3 Product Development
Optimumcut-1D v3 is based very loosely on the template model found in many desktop applications such as Word and Excel. Let’s take Word as an example. When you create a new document, you can base your new document on one of several hundred templates. These cover almost every area imaginable including letters, envelopes, meeting minutes, résumés, leaflets, etc… There is also the ability to create your own templates and share them with other people.
Although this is a suitable model, we were worried that many people don’t really get the most out of the template feature. How many people have actually created a .DOT or .DOTX file from Word and shared it with someone else? We needed to make the creation and re-use of these templates an automatic process that happens without you having to do anything. Every component you create in v3 is automatically added to a local cache of templates that you can re-use in any future project. If you created a specific type of window in a project last week, it can be imported into your current projects with just a few mouse clicks.
As well as custom templates, this model gives Optimumcut the opportunity to provide a large library of pre-defined templates online. Retrieval of these templates is integrated into Optimumcut-1D..
