Now that Optimumcut-1D v3 is almost feature complete, we have started to use it internally for real-world projects. One recent curtainwall project evolved over time and resulted in our project containing several unused materials and accessories. It is easy to get into this situation if you have created a component and then decide to delete it. The manual process of cross referencing all remaining components with the linear materials, sheet materials and accessories within the project was daunting.

To solve this problem we decided to re-use part of the project validation functionality we have already written. Any unused items within the project are greyed out so it is easy to see which are used and which are unused.

In the sample below, you can see that linear materials EX108 and EX112 are no longer used by a component within the project..
