Optimumcut-1D v3 Product Development
In Optimumcut-1D v2, we introduced the option of assigning an image to each material within a project. The idea was that a cross-section of the material could then be included on the reports alongside any cut information we provided.
For Optimumcut-1D v3 we decided to greatly enhance this functionality. To start with, it is now possible to assign an image to many different parts of a project. Linear Materials, sheet materials, accessories, components and the project itself can now each be assigned their own image.
Our traditional image support has been native image files (e.g. bmp, jpg, png files) as well as any other file that has a registered thumbnail. Within applications like Autodesk AutoCAD ® and Microsoft Word ® you can specify that you want a thumbnail embedded within the file. This thumbnail is used in Windows Explorer to give you a quick summary of the file. Optimumcut-1D v2 was able to extract this thumbnail from the file and display it within a project.
Due to the nature of our industry, we wanted to provide better native support for AutoCAD ® DWG files due to it being the industry standard. Optimumcut-1D v3 is able to embed AutoCAD ® DWG versions 13, 14, 2000, 2004, 2007 & 2010 and DXF into a project. The drawings can then be displayed at full quality with support for zoom, pan, scroll, zoom extents, layout control and model space control etc.
We are also able to interrogate the AutoCAD ® DWG file for all defined dimensions. These can be automatically extracted and used as the basis for a components parameter list..
